The thread can be moved to a Thunderbird section however you will need an account to continue to post in this thread then.

The Support sections of Firefox, Thunderbird and SeaMonkey used to allow guest posting up till November 2012 however Spammers just took advantage of the guest posting and spammed the forum more. They do however still try and spam the mozillaZine Site Discussion often.

As a Mod, is it possible for you to shift this post into the Support section?

I posted once before but so far back I've forgotten both my old username and password, and signing for a new account is not doable at the moment as I won't receive the activation e-mail.

Also, I know what "Site Discussion" is MEANT to be for, but after a batch of failed logins (plus the "how many letters in Mozilla" problem) you ultimately get prompted to post your issue in "Site Discussion" as it doesn't require an active account, which is why you see my support post here.

The mozillaZine Site Discussion is for things related to the *.mozillazine.org site itself.

The section for Thunderbird is at http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewforum.php?f=50 on the http://forums.mozillazine.org/index.php index.

However you will need to register an account and login to post there. Btw the answer to the captcha on how many letters in Mozilla is 6 as it is about unique letters and not the combined total as some may conclude.

Thunderbird Inbox messages completely disappeared

by BhamJohn » December 8th, 2020, 1:42 pm

For the last few days I have not been receiving any emails through Thunderbird, and whatever I sent appeared to go through, but with the prompt that a copy was unable to be saved to my Sent folder.

I'm with Virgin Media and assumed that this was some kind of outage and/or upgrading that was only affecting the weekend, but now It's Tuesday and still nothing.

Which is when I had my stupid brainwave...

Maybe the Inbox is somehow corrupted, so I went to "Properties", clicked "Repair Folder", and now every message in my Inbox is completely gone!

However, I went into my ImapMail folder and I can see that the "Inbox" file still exists, so I'm wondering how I can somehow re-integrate or re-install it into Thunderbird?

I'm using Virgin Media, and ESET Smart Security, if you need to know things like Server or Security settings, I'll try to find these out (though I haven't changed any of these).

Help much appreciated!
