how about next topic?

by phanty » November 22nd, 2002, 3:54 am

Jumping to the first unread post in the next topic would be nice.

Is there a way to do this? Next topic takes me to the first post.

OK.
It seems to work.

Thanx

We can close this thread.

I would say that the left hand side one is not fully user specific.
It is specific is the sense it appears if there are new messages for me in a thread.
Still it jumps to a message which does not seem to be user specific.

I think you are mistaken. It is intended to jump to the first message in the thread that the particular user didn't read. It might not work too hot, but when it works, that's what it seems to do. Or I could be mistaken :).

Maybe someone else who knows phpbb better than I can comment.

The one on the right hand side I didn't mention as it is not user-specific and doesn't do what you want.

For the right hand side one, agreed.

Is that something possible in phpbb ?

From the forum index, I sometimes see a little arrow pointing to an item on the left hand side of the topic name. If you click on it it is supposed to go to the first unread message in that thread.
Unfortunately, for me it works very sporadically - sometimes topics have new messages that aren't marked. Sometimes topics are marked and clicking on them brings me to a screen that says "no new topics" and sometimes it works beautifully :).

hi,

i am used to browse the Visual Pinball forum (www.vpforums.com)
which have a nice feature that apparently Mozillazinz does not have :
you have the possibility to go directly from a forum index to the first message you have not read in a thread.

Is that something possible in phpbb ?
