Wrong password and CAPTCHA

Hi!

I noticed that a single mistyped password at login triggers a CAPTCHA, with a dummy login in between:
- login with wrong password
- login form is displayed again, enter correct password this time
- login form is displayed again, with CAPTCHA, enter correct password again
- finally successful login

Isn't that too much of "paranoia"?
Could at least the CAPTCHA be displayed on the second attempt to avoid a third run?

I believe you are mistaking programmed paranoia and just plain bugginess. It's been doing this to me for years. FYI, if you ever get a failed login, don't even bother at the first CAPCHA login request, it *NEVER* goes through for me. The second one always works.

Also, the CAPTCHA iz wrong, the true answer is 7, but it is rejected, while 6 is accepted.
(this is already discussed somewhere on the forum, but google search found this thread, so I'll note it here for future lost souls...)

The true answer is 6 as it was about unique letters and not total letters.
