not possible to convert my password error?

When trying to register to be able tom post, after an unusual amount of hassle, I finally got this message:
"It was not possible to convert your password when updating this bulletin board’s software. Please request a new password. If you continue to have problems please request help in the Site Discussion forum where you can post without logging in."
So that's what I'm doing right now: Please Help!
