spam, phish, etc

Post by nclifford »

About once a day for the last week or so, I've been getting an email asking me to download an "urgent update" for Firefox. It looks thoroughly irregular to me, and I've never touched it. I assume I'm not the only person affected by this, and I wish Firefox had an easier way to notify them in case of fraud, but I suppose I'm out of luck.

This is not a email but a Ad popup websites that some Windows users are getting. They generally change to another couple sites after a day.

Mozilla the company that make Firefox is aware of the urgent update sites serving a fake firefox-patch.exe however it is uncertain on the real cause of it and fix at moment. Not the first time this fake Firefox updates sites have existed as the fake Firefox patches in Nov/Dec 2015 was installing a ransomware for anybody who ran the .exe on Windows.

Also MozillaZine Site Discussion is for discussing mozillaZine.org stuff as desktop Firefox related posts go in http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewforum.php?f=49 however you need to create and log into an account. http://forums.mozillazine.org/ucp.php?mode=login
