Wanting to log in after not having done so for many years I requested a new password. The email with a password said "You can of course change this password yourself via the profile page. If
you have any difficulties please contact the board administrator." but I cannot see a link to my profile nor any mention in a forum of how to find it.

It's fairly simple if you know where the link is.
Go to the top right column & click on "User Control Panel."
You'll find all your settings/options in there.

on right sidebar > User Control Panel > Profile > Edit account settings.
