Some months ago, I posted on this site about problems I was having with an adult website.
I named the website and was immediately slapped down.
I get it. Nobody wants to see links to such things here.
While I am on an old version of Firefox - 40-something on here, 52ESR on my new machine, Firefox 57 has broken a lot of things for a lot of users.
Particularly in light of this, could we have a room, maybe passworded / age protected, where issues on such sites could be discussed?
Also, before anyone flags up my username - it was THIS account I used to enquire about a problem on an adult website - before that, I hadn't posted in years - no posts before this account were related in any way to what I am posting about now. Making a new account was a far easier way of getting back on than jumping through multiple hoops to get my username and password from an old account.

People need to read the forum rules. One of them is

Adult Content
No adult content of any type, including images or depictions. Kids visit these forums, and there are plenty of other places to talk about this stuff.
What sort of man would put a known criminal in charge of a major branch of government? Apart from, say, the average voter.

Malliz - To quote the rules back at you...
"No adult content of any type, including images or depictions"
Of course, that is right and proper. I completely agree with that. That is a different thing to discussing genuine browser problems that occur when accessing places where such things exist.
"Kids visit these forums" - everyone knows that every single 14 year old boy wants to see adult material and will actively seek it out.
Yes, there is some really gross stuff out there that not even the most enlightened adults should see, but, let's not kid ourselves. In general, the child protection angle is a legal one that, while I understand the reasons for it's existence, is, frankly, not based in reality.
BUT - the legal stuff is why I suggested a room only accessible by adults - and separated so that those that don't want to see it don't have to.

There are plenty of sites that discuss adult content, yes, but, if there is a site that deals with Firefox issues related to such sites, I am yet to find it.

Re: An adult room?
No, I am not. Look at the stats - there are a lot - a LOT of people that look at adult content online.
Single people, sexually lonely people, couples that use such material for heightened pleasure, people in poly or open relationships.
All I am suggesting is an adult only room that does not CONTAIN any adult material, but can deal with with browser issues for those that do access sites where such material exists.
I really don't see why this is such a big deal.

This belongs more to Site Discussion so I am moving it there.
In short, creating this "adult only" room would require forum changes that I doubt the site owner is willing to entertain at this point.

Re: An adult room?
You are making it a big deal. What I'm expressed so far is a lack of interest from regular users off this fora. I fail to see the need for changes like that.OtherAccountsLocked wrote: I really don't see why this is such a big deal.
My thoughts to bring that about:
1st it takes permission from the creator / owner of this domain and website, who hasn't been active here for a number years
2nd it would take volunteers to do the to work to add another forum category with a separate "adult" user database, it that is even possible with the current software package.
3rd it would need moderators to keep things on the up and up. to wed out stuff like child-porn and links to same.
4th with "Mozilla" in the domain name and the forum title, I wonder if board of the Mozilla Foundation would object?
A mind is a terrible thing to waste. Mine has wandered off and I'm out looking for it.

I would be more than happy to oblige, as you know, in Hollywood we take this kind of thing very seriously.the-edmeister wrote: it would need moderators to keep things on the up and up. to wed out stuff like child-porn and links to same.
@No references to 'hardware acceleration' would be allowed.
