MozillaZine

I have been locked out of this board on my old signon

Talk about stuff specific to the site -- bugs, suggestions, and of course praise welcome.

Pretty sure I wasn't banned. My signon got munched somehow and I tried opening this w/ new email, I was getting messages like I was not getting through. I gave up. Then I found the start up email in my new email right now, like 3 days later.
My old sign on tells me I've had too many sign on attempts in a day and I must solve the capcha "How many letters in Mozilla." In my opinion, reinforced by counting and counting, the answer is 7. Or seven. Neither of those answers work, and there's no way to get help for it.
I try to open a new account using an existing email. Already on file. Tried with the one I thought I was already using. Already on file. Opened a new email account and tried. Already on file. Yeah. Just opened. By me.
I did write a snail mail letter to Mozilla to an address I found online from 2008, damned if I knew if it will get there. But it was the only contact I could find, barring this, which I was locked out of.
Could someone clear my old forum account so I can get on here? The original is miss_kitty.

Thank you mods.

It was not about the combined total of the letters in the word Mozilla as it is the total of the different or unique letters so M o z i l a = 6

You cannot use the same email address for multiple accounts on a forum, including this one.

The mozillaZine.org site is independent and not a part of nor run by Mozilla http://www.mozillazine.org/about/ as Mozilla has their more newer community support site at support.mozilla.org

Your miss_kitty account seems fine with no account changes or password reset requests or such.

I had no way of reaching anyone because I was locked out and there is no way to get help unless you can sign on, which is why I wrote to that address for the corporation you have no connection to. I also answered the captcha with the numbers 6 and 8 during my sign on attempts in the past, because they were close to 7, but 6 never worked back then. And OK, that answer is pretty obscure, without an explanation. I've never had an Encyclopedia Brown CAPTCHA.

I just tried to sign in on that account and it told me "You exceeded the maximum allowed number of login attempts. In addition to your username and password you now also have to solve the CAPTCHA below." It finally worked in a private window, but it took about 4 or five times to get it to go because it kept blasting out the info in the windows, so then I needed a user name and password even though I had put it in, but really, it was totally messed up. It's taken me about 6 months and a new email address to sign back on.

I knew it wouldn't let me use the same email for a new account, but I had another old addy, not in use here, that I was being told was already in use when I would try to make a new account. It told me both of my existing emails were already in use. I don't believe I have a third account, but I guess anything is possible. :)
Your email went into the new email I never check, into spam, so I hope this is all over.

Thank you.

Jeez! After trying to get a password reset, using my regular email address, and having it rejected by the CAPTCHA answer, trying 7 (Mozilla), 8 (Mozilla?), 9 (Mozilla?:), then getting locked out for too many tries, I fired up a private window and after the same rigamarole, I finally thought "Maybe the one who set up the CAPTCHA forgot how to spell Mozilla", and tried 6. I was totally amazed that it worked. Now I find out that whoever set it up is probably not a native English speaker and had never heard of the word "unique", or how to change the answer to one that any English speaker would figure was the right answer.

I did get the answer to my question, which should have taken me about 2 minutes, but took more like 2 hours.

Thanks.

Hmm the generous person who owns this independent forum works for Google on the Google Chrome web browsers for some years now.

If you think about it, 6 makes sense if you count how many different letters there are in a word Mozilla. You concluded it was only about the combined total.

Maybe it's time to make a sticky about the M o z i l l a = 6 question, so that new/re-registering users can see the sticky, and let's lock the recent threads.
