Post time wrong

Post by shakushinnen »

Hi,
I've never really looked at the time of my posts before; but this morning I posted something (here) at 10:?? am and the time of the post showed 6:??, 4 hours earlier. I checked my computer time, and it's correct.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
....... john
P.S. I posted this at 10:58AM, and the post time says 6:58AM

Hi John,
Have you checked in your User Control Panel > Board Prefs > Edit Global Settings?
Maybe something changed?

eg; My time is currently 2.07 AM....Aust. Daylight Saving time.
This post says a few Mins earlier, which is correct.

Moving to MozillaZine Site Discussion as this is not really about SeaMonkey.

Hi Limpet,
I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "User Control Panel > Board Prefs > Edit Global Settings" but I went to the Date and Time settings in my control panel, and checked the time listed, and it's correct (as I was trying to say above). Then I updated the synchronization with time.windows.com and it gave me the same time. Is this what you wanted?
Thanks,
....... john
P.S. Again, the post time 3:23pm is wrong by 4 hours. My actual time is 7:23pm.

Hi,
I'm trying this again from Firefox to see if it's related to SeaMonkey.
I'm posting this at 7:33pm

You probably have the wrong time zone set.

User Control Panel (from the sidebar on the right).
Click the Board Preferences Tab. Make sure you have the right time zone set.

You appear to have your Time zone set as Pacific Standard time instead of Eastern Standard Time plus you have Summer Time/DST is in effect: set to No instead of Yes so your time is going to be four hours off.

Note that all those reference to time zone setting are relating to Forum settings, not settings on your local computer.

Hi Dan/James/smsmith,
I had no idea that there was a user control panel on the site. (No wonder I couldn't find it in Windows control panel.) And yes, the time zone was wrong. It was as James suggested.
OK. I'm posting this at a3:25pm
Thanks guys.
