Empty Icon Cache

Post by bodytechnician »

It's now easy to empty the website cache, that's been fixed, thank you. There's no easy way to empty the icon cache, it must be emptied manually.

It would be good if the button in Preferences > History that empties the website cache, would empty the icon cache; if the menu bar item Camino > Empty Cache would empty the icon cache; if the hotkey combination that empties the website cache would empty the icon cache.

Under what circumstances (or for what reasons) do you want to empty the icon cache? It's currently cleaned up periodically on quit, and icons are expired during normal browsing, so it would be useful to know why the current methods aren't enough for your use-cases.

I didn't know that the icon cache is emptied sometimes on quit, or that icons expire. When I've looked in the icon cache folder there's always icons, sometimes many. If that's not a problem, then no worries. Thanks for the information.

We don't clean up after the icon cache as well as we'd like to be doing (there are bugs filed on making that better, in addition to the explicit "clear with cache" bug cflawson linked to), but, generally speaking, it's not a problem if there are many icons in the icon cache folder.
