ppc - other ways to speed up camino?

Post by fbu924 »

Hello: browsing this forum led to making true the config network.dns.disableprefetch, as one way to speed up camino on PPC. It looks like that's not enough to keep using camino as my main browser. It uses up too much CPU usage. I can monitor in realtime using Menumeters prefpane & see it's exactly camino when I call up activity monitor. Making prefetch true did diminish CPU usage some, but camino still remains slower than it had been some months ago. Getting an Intel mac is still many mos. away for me, but other than camino, this 1.5GHz CPU is quite adequate. I was "forced" to use safari, & while I find it a lot less user friendly than camino, still there it is-faster, doesn't get hung up like camino, directly related to CPU resource usage (a lot less than camino- I use 2.1.3 nightly build, just updated 8may).
-So any other fixes to cut down that CPU demand & speed up camino on PPC (OS 10.5.8)? Thanks.

I find Camino fast enough on rational websites. When I need Safari, usually for streaming video, I use leopard-webkit.
