Crashing web site.

Post by JB »

I have crashed 4 times in a row opening this site. It starts to open, but crashes seemingly when an embedded video is loading.
There is no problem with Chromium or Safari.

http://www.boston.com/sports/basketball/celtics/extras/celtics_blog/

I am experiencing daily crashes, for weeks now, usually when there are several similar web pages opening and I try to click on one of the links, but this is the first time it has happened when only one page is opened and no attempt was made to click on anything.

I have responded several times to the prompt to report the crashes to the Camino developers. Is any one paying attention to those anymore?

Help? [-o<

What plugin is the video attempting to load? In other words, what format is the video? You should make sure you're using the latest version of whatever plugin that is.

It's very likely that the problem is in plugin code, but if you can point us to the specific crash reports you've submitted, we can probably tell you for sure. Go to about:crashes and copy the "Report ID" and paste it here.

I believe it's an Adobe Flash plugin and info tells me "You have version 11,2,202,235 installed," which seems to be the newest one.

How can I identify the crash reports I submitted? The only page I found has hundreds of undated and unsigned reports.

Type 'about:crashes' in the location bar and you'll see a list of (linked) crash reports.

Sorry to seem such a dullard, but which "location bar?" I've tried the three seemingly most obvious ones.... ](*,)
Could you just provide a link? Thank you....

That long input field at the very top of the Camino window where you input URL's, next to the back / forward reload, etc buttons.

"The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded."

I had already tried that...... a "dullard" I might be, but not that dull. #-o

You didn't add the quotes, I hope.

Oh yeah, you wanted a link: http://caminobrowser.org/documentation/bugzilla/#crash
Sorry I forgot to paste that earlier.

Thank you sir....
I believe this is one of mine.

I had uninstalled and reinstalled the Flash plug in yesterday.
I have no idea what this means.......

If that is indeed one of yours, then yes, the crash is deep in Flash code and there's nothing we'd ever be able to do about it. You can certainly report it to Adobe, though.

Sure.... I understand and that plug in is funky for other browsers, although only Camino crashes.
Chromium has a pop up that reads: "The following plug-in has crashed: Shockwave Flash"
Safari displays "plug in failure."
Does Abobe make Shockwave? :-k

If I "block flash animations" from the preferences will this solve the crashing problem?

The crash will probably only happen if and when you unblock the flash movie (click on the placeholder) - e.g. if you want to watch the movie.
