Camino still does not always time out when pages do not load

Post by Wizardling »

Camino still does not always time out when pages do not load and I still lose tabs when I'm left with a blank page with nothing in the URL field and nothing to reload. This has been happening since the days of Netscape Navigator. Why can't Mozzila based browsers time out every time a page does not load?
If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate.

Yeah, that would be the longstanding https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=191145

Drives me crazy, too, but it's at least partially Gecko's fault. I don't use Firefox enough to know if it still has the same problem, but it definitely did at one time.

I don't know what causes Gecko to take so long to time out (show an error page), but the missing URL part (the bug that cflawson mentioned) is among the top 3 Camino bugs that bother me. The last patch there fixes about 1/4 of the bug, but more work is needed--and more free time is needed to do that work :(
