So, with Camino getting notifications of RSS feeds at some point, and with this news in mind:

http://blogs.msdn.com/rssteam/archive/2 ... 03778.aspx

Will Camino be adopting the same icon? The reason I bring this up is that I think it should, but I'm keen to hear other users opinions...
Cheers,
Jon

I agree. After reading about the MS decision I thought that Camino should adopt it too. It could lead to more mainstream acceptance.

There are some different oppinions about the icon and its placement in the bug report as well.

Oh boy. I can't wait to see what Sam and Smokey have to say in this thread.

Have a gander at

For the record, I agree that Camino should use the now-standard icon, but I also think that icon utterly sucks. It doesn't convey the meaning of "news feed" at all.

I must say I like this placement (like Firefox) and icon. :)
It better describes the meaning of the button than the Firefox one...

Does 'feed' really say anything to those who have never heard of RSS with cousins? A feed could be anything.

I think we should use this icon. That being said I don't think the icon best represents the feature. That being said, since firefox and MS both now use it, it just makes sense to go with what they are using. Unfortunatly it seems to only take MS to adapt it to make it the "standard".

Do we want to be down the road in 6 or so months and have people wondering why the rss icon is different than any others.

F.Y.I. I will have a reviewable patch for this feature soon! (Thanks to apple and core regressions with Launch Services and RSS registeration in 10.3.9)

That assumes you can fit a translated version of "Feed" into that icon size in every language Camino is translated into.

Personally, I think "Zufuhr" and "alimentação" have a nice ring to them.

For the record, I'm not voting in favor of the "FEED" icon (or against), I just like poking at cflawson.

For the record, I do not think either of those two I mentioned have a nice ring to them (in German and Portuguese, respectively).
