Re: Camino [1.6.9] (-O3 GCC4.0) G3 and G4(7400 & 7450)
Thanks for the tip "Open terminal.app (in /Applications/Utilities) and type 'machine' (without the quotes). "
I now know I have a G4 7400
Will try deleting the 'Flash Player' folder as well.
I restart the machine dailey. If it was a windows PC I would say I have a virus. It just runs so slow even if Camino is the only program running. It ran fine (in fact it was superb) for about a month. Then I had a guest who stayed a few days and used the machine with my permission and it just started this slow stuff. Asked him about it and he says he has no idea what he could have done. Could just be a coincidence.
All other programs run flawlessly.
I will try the 'Flash Player' deletion and report back.
Thanks.

For testing purposes, you might also want to check if Camino is fast when you use it in a newly created user account. Then you know if the cause is somewhere in your home folder or if it is a system wide issue.

My optimised builds of Camino 1.6.10 are ready and available to download.
Note: Don't worry about the flash on my web site, it's not advertising. I promise.

Re: Camino [1.6.10] (-O3 GCC4.0) G3 and G4(7400 & 7450)
Just reporting back as promised.
The deleting of the "Flash Player" folder (Owner/Library/Preferences/Macromedia/Flash Player) worked like a charm!
THANK YOU!
Deleted the "Flash Player" folder in 1.6.9 and it totally cleared up the problem. Camino runs super fast again!
Did the update to 1.6.10 later in the day, and still running fine.

Umm, I'm unable to download from your new ftp site. Not sure why. I can download fine from the alternate site. Any chance of posting your optimised 1.6.10 builds there too? Thanks.

(File Factory) There's a few clicks you have to go through before you get the file link, oh and a short timer. Also the alternate site (Media Fire) should have the builds there, they appear near the top of the list rather than at the very bottom (list is ordered by file name).

Duh! Stupid me. Got it from the alternate link. Thanks.
Despite many clicks, I failed to get the File Factory link to download. Maybe my filtering proxy is blocking some javascript.

My optimised builds of Camino 2.0 are available at the download sites but I've not had time to update my own web site yet. So if you're really interested in getting them straight away just visit the Camino folders at the download sites.

Thanks a lot for these. I still use your builds on my iBook G4. Fantastic work on these, really.

Been meaning to ask, optimized builds for EVERY CPU except a G5... curious how come?

Well, one reason is I don't have any G5 Macs to test on and the other reason is no one has requested any builds from me.
Is there really much interest for G5 optimised builds?
