Hmmm, I just checked my history... blank except for this URL that I just accessed. Somehow I'd say there is an issue.

Trying to be helpful, I looked at the actual history.dat file. Interesting... it's size is 2800 bytes... more interesting is it does carry a creation date of 3/23/09, so the file is not being deleted and recreated, the entries are being blanked.

Even more interesting, I am on 10.4.11 on a PPC machine, just like Esquilax. I too rarely use the history entries, but every now and then I NEED them.

G5-970 v2

Post by RPMozley »

Hi again. If you can, please try out this build Camino2.0.3-G5-970.v2.dmg and see if it still behaves badly with history. :-k

Post haste as they say! Report back in a day or two...

Got the new build installed and I'm starting with ONLY a link to this thread in history... so that's the starting point.

I did the same quick test as outlined a few posts back, and so far, everything seems to work fine. Thanks, RPMozley! And thanks paulc for verifying the problem.

RPMozley: What'd you change in that build?

While not enough time has really gone by, but based on never having ANY history, I seem to have links from yesterday when I launched this build as well as earlier this morning... so it has lasted for one date change. To really evaluate it, I should see my choice of number of days of history honored. While I prefer it longer, I set mine to 6 days... and we'll see how that goes.

Well I removed the compiler flag -mcpu=970 and replaced it with -mtune=970. I also removed another flag -ftracer, as it doesn't really do all that much except make the build larger in file size, but I suspect the first change may have fixed things.

I found this thread after having the same History problem mentioned; I would lose partial history of the previous day and all of the weeks preceding days. Running a Dual 2.3 PPC G5 w/ 10.5.8.

Many thanks for posting this build(!) as it fixed everything and I'm back to normal. I depend on History quite a bit for ongoing project which needs temporary references to earlier days.

Best,

FWIW, the issue is really put to bed, I have tons of "history" now... matching my # of days setting.

Thanks, RPM. Your builds have moved Camino ahead of Safari as my go-to browser. Glad I found you.
