Re: Downloads Statistics at AMO
Can anyone else confirm these trends in the daily use stats?
no data
November 24th data begins
rising use
* December 16th spike
Christmas holiday slump
* January 5th spike
accelerated rise in use
* February 18th spike (all time highest use)
slumping use till mid March
slight gains around March 17rd
slumping use
* April 15th spike
accelerated slumping in use (over 2% per week!)
I've checked every single one of my themes and the least popular and most popular ones all show the exact same trends. Prior to February 18th, all of my themes basically followed different trends in use although all of them were generally experiencing growth. Now they all follow the same exact trends? That's odd. Also, what happened to all of the data prior to November 24th?

You can see for yourself. All the links I've posted at that bug are from statistics made public: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=566124
And yes, I can confirm more or less the same behavior on usage. But what I think it's really strange are the downloads statistics...

Re: Downloads Statistics at AMO
Well, I can't confirm download issues because all of my themes have been at their current state for several months now so none of my current users have needed to update and with slumping use, I'm obviously not getting many new users as compared to only 4 months ago.

Re: Downloads Statistics at AMO
aaron, this just explains the drop at 25/05 (I guess you also have noticed this drop), It has actually nothing to do with the issues from 01/04...

Re: Downloads Statistics at AMO
I moved all my themes to self-hosted. Still listed at AMO, but self-hosted. So the download statistics are all screwed up for me. Have been since I moved them to self-hosted late last year. Comments act real weird too.
Figured I'd post that link since it popped up in my RSS reader, but I have no explanation for what is going on with the other messed up stats.

Re: Downloads Statistics at AMO
This month I saw the same number being reported for 13 days, and that can't be right.
In general, I'm seeing the same kind of trends everybody else is talking about.

Re: Downloads Statistics at AMO
There's definitely a reduce in download stats for all themes. It's clear that the policy of Mozilla is causing this. They promote the personas so agressively & unfairly! How can it be that a link from the add-on manager says "get themes" & goes to personas page? That's misleading! They even removed the link to the themes that was in the personas page (which was very hidden in the first place). I rest my case, they're killing the themes!

No wonder downloads are down, bloody ridicolus.

Look at this crap.
Why don't they recommend custom themes on the Personas site like that as well?

We've gone down that road before jivko

I have no problem with Mozilla making an official World Cup Persona... that's their perogative... it's the fact that directly below that themes *used* to appear in the Browse Add-ons/Recommended/Featured list and no longer do, and now hitting Themes under catagories brings up that truncated list of 5 themes without a Next button that mightyglydd pointed out... what's wrong with this picture?
I can now confirm that my downloads numbers are way way down. I just released a new version of Stratini Padded which went Public on May 28th. That following Monday, I got 84 downloads. As compared with the day *before* it went Public I had 46 downloads. In the 14 days that have passed since Stratini Padded went public it's had less than 750 download.... yet AMO claims it has just under 4900 daily users. Do 4200 users of that theme have their automatic updates turned off? That seems odd to me.

Re: Downloads Statistics at AMO
Hmm, maybe they're working on stuff, just clicked on Themes, five 'Recommended' ones appear, clicked on Categories , then Themes again and the 'lost page' shows up !?

Re: Downloads Statistics at AMO
I'm not seeing any serious issues with https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/browse/type:2
I think it works as expected.
The real issues are those from the "discrimination" packet:
1. the link to personas page instead of the themes page on Addons Manager
2. the fact of themes are being listed on the addons page outside of the scope from "addons" (the last item on that page after "Collections", "Personas", "Search Tools" and "Dictionaries")
3. As Patrick mentioned above the fact that none of the "recommended" Addons: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/recommended is a Theme...

I don't, when I click on Themes I expect to see this,
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... rt=popular.
not 5 random themes. (One that hasn't worked since Firefox: 2.0 )
