CSS variables
About CSS variables being used in Firefox .. does their use in Firefox *mandate* any changes in how we do what we do, or can we just keep on trucking as before? I haven't looked at this yet so I have no idea.

Re: CSS variables
I don't think so. I'm actually somewhat hopeful that once they go mainstream we'll be able to do things like create a custom universal background color variable and text color variable and be able to change the entire theme on the fly. Like imagine having 5 or 6 colors that control every single aspect of a theme... you could swap from dark to light with a JS light-switch. Or imagine putting the variable definition into a file that is loaded in chrome.manifest based on OS flags... you'd be able to use totally different color schemes on different OS's (including using OS-defined colors) with a very minimal amount of coding.
Tip of the day: If it has "toolbar" in the name, it's crap.
