icon for digger extension

Post by acidfunk »

i like the new theme, but to make it complete it needs a matching icon for the digger extension (look on texturizer.net/phoenix). right now the icon for the digger is still the one from orbit.

The icons for extensions are created/provided by the extension author. The fact that most extension icons are similar to orbit is that was the default theme for most of Phoenix's life.

Extension icons could be provided by theme authors but that is purely discretionary. You may also change any icon by modifying your userContent.css or userChrome.css (not sure which one of the top of my head). There are other threads describing how to do this.

userChrome.css.

Some theme authors may start to provide icons, but the problem is that as more and more extensions are created, each theme would get bigger. Already there's Digger, mozEngineer, and Trivial.

That depends on how specific the change to the css is. If you say that only apply it to a child of tabbed browsing, then it appears in the browser portion only. If you don't, it applies to all tabs.

Hmm. My previous post was based on using Qute 0.8.3 with Px 0.5 which I assumed was at least close to what was in the nightlies. It would seem that in the menubar and toolbar seperators have been added back into the classic theme (testing with the 2003-01-05 build) though so I will have to beg your pardon for #1.

For the tab styles though, they still seem like they could use some attention as they do not look like OS style tabs (at least in XP luna) and other themes do not have this problem. Perhaps it is intentional.

Well since this is the Qute thread, does anyone know how quickly Phoenix includes new builds of Qute?

Arvid said he wasn't sure, so I guess I'm asking if anyones sure. :)

Blake asked Arvid if he was familiar with CVS, so my guess is that they have some sort of contact on how to get him CVS access, which means that Arvid will be able to update the theme himself. If they're not having this discussion, my guess is that kerz or any other developer will be responsible for updating the theme whenever necessary.

Haven't heard from him. It would be good if I could get that.

First you'll need to figure out how to download via cvs (or WinCVS).

Security icons are new. Small toolbarbuttons have less padding (are smaller). So, nothing important.

By the way, I have put up the Qute icon set as ico files. If anyone is interested, should it be available in other formats?

Well, which OS do you have? I haven't gotten cvs on cygwin to work yet, so I haven't progressed at all. I'm not sure if you'll want to download the whole Mozilla tree, or just the Phoenix theme part.

cdn is very familiar with CVS.
