Falcon, the fix is a no go for me... I'll fool around with the file a bit more, however. Perhaps I overlooked something while doing the fix. What did you change again?
I got rid of the old code in browser/browser.css then replaced it with the following code

Code: Select all

.bookmark-item   {
   list-style-image: url("chrome://global/skin/icons/item.gif") !important;
}

.bookmark-item[container="true"] {
  list-style-image: url("chrome://global/skin/icons/folClos.gif") !important;
}
.bookmark-item[open="true"],
.bookmark-item[container="true"][open="true"] {
  list-style-image: url("chrome://global/skin/icons/folOpen.gif") !important;
}

}
Where the files are in global/icons/ . I created the icons by using paint to cut the files into there 16x16 chunks from folder-item.gif, then use infranview to make them transparent Then put them in global/icons and used the css above. It doesnt look too nice when i go from a closed to an open folder me thinks a real graphics program will do better :) .

And now that there's a version of the throbber on dark grey, we can finally replace that ol' spinning arrow in the sidebar:
[EDIT: Removed the code because it wasn't working properly.]

I spend way too much time cussing at rendering limitations in Tasman revision 1 and not enough time studying this cool stuff.

Haha, yeah, I know what you mean! You never know what you're missing out on until you start working with a truly advanced rendering engine... God bless Gecko. :)

As a matter of principal, I'm wondering whether I should change the bookmarks menu or not... I also uploaded the revised menu.css (located in subskin)

What I can do is create some .gif images...

If you dont want to change the default behaviour what you could do is add the gifs and an alternate css file that can be used for people using the latest nightlies. At least can you add the gifs, I can change the css file myself if required its not a big deal, I just dont have the software to make the images better myself.

done.

<img src="http://www.alazanto.org/lebreeze/oldfolder-open.gif"/>
<img src="http://www.alazanto.org/lebreeze/oldfolder-closed.gif"/>
<img src="http://www.alazanto.org/lebreeze/oldfolder-dis.gif"/>

It isn't that it wouldn't be a big deal to change the code (which would take a fraction of the time spent doing these images). Well...you know...standards... If, for some reason, the developers can't fix this bug, the would need to post a notice, then I certainly wouldn't mind bending a bit to help them out. (boy that was political...)

I understand, a workaround to a bug should not be the solution, the solutions should be to fix the bug. So who's gonna post this on bugzilla ;) When is the bottom folder image called I dont see it in browser.css

Hmm...the bottom image is a disabled folder...I don't think I ever call it, but if anyone would like to add the behavior, the image is now available.

Ozphactor...I'm sorry to hear that the effect doesn't work quite perfectly. It wouldn't be THAT difficult for each tab to track the animation frames of every other tab's loading animations...it could then just tally a history, calling on the last frame played in the previously selected tab. :D Otherwise, I suppose the developers could keep each animation running in synch.

I should ask both of you...are you web developers?

huh?! no longer centered? such oddities... I suppose I would need a screenshot or something to understand this one.

By the way, I just registered the bug.

Oz, thats quite an impressive record. Getting high (off CSS) is a past-time like no other :D Most of the designers I correspond with don't have the kind of knowledge about CSS you've been demonstrating. Part of the reason, of course, is that such things get our hopes up way too high (as they come crashing down when we test in Internet Explorer) but many won't experiment with such selection methods unless everyone else is doing it.

Question...how does one do alternating backgrounds? I was thinking about playing around with these in the two themes (download manager, contacts window, etc.)

Looking for this, perhaps?

Unfortunately, those selectors were only recently implemented, so I don't think they work in the 0.8 milestone. :( I do recall there being another method (?), but it seems to have slipped my mind...
