The background of Navigation Toolbar and Bookmarks Toolbar is the gradation colors.
The background of Menu bar is brighter than the background of Navigation Toolbar.
I was not able to hit on an acceptable design also on what background color...

Aren't the images in the theme PNGs? Don't those support transparency?
If so, can't the 'engraving' of the space between the conjoined buttons be just the shading gradient and allow the color of the toolbar to show through to create a good match?

I just installed Firefox 3.1 beta 2 on two machines and upgraded Past Modern theme to ver. 0.2.08.11.27. However for some reason it now looks strange on one of my machines (while on the other it looks OK).

That's how it looks:

You can see a grey area where it is not supposed to be. Why can it happen? Something is messed up with colors? And interestingly, why did it happen on one machine and didn't happen on another?

I feel that it is the color management issue.

When you set this in about:config, is this problem fixed?

Code: Select all

user_pref("gfx.color_management.mode", 0);

I will make Past Modern for Firefox 3.1 beta 3 sooner or later.
At that time, I try fix.

Thanks! You were right. It helped when I set gfx.color_management.mode to 0 in about:config. (It was set to 2 before). I guess, on my older monitor color management messes up colors.

Kuden: Also, how can I move the "new tab" button the the left of the tabs headers area?

Kuden: Presently the theme for FF 3.1 is limited with 3.1b3. Is it really incompatible with 3.1b4pre?

Yes. For instance, Bug 413053 and Bug 473536 are already checked-in.

I think that it is not the best to keep the compatibility between different Firefox versions.

Some bugs i've noticed.
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.9.1b4) Gecko/20090423 Firefox/3.5b4 GTB5 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729) ID:20090423204732

1) Middle click scroll cursor does not appear (small square?) This has been a problem in all versions, from 3.1 to 3.6 - This happens without plugins enabled, Works fine in default theme,
2) Buttons on find bar do not become clickable after typing the search query. If you press F3 to search, then the buttons suddenly become clickable. - This happens without plugins enabled, works fine in default theme.
3) Tabs in Addons, Options, and page info have a white border around them, seemingly that alpha blending is broken? this is new to the latest release.

Hi, I like to switch from Seamonkey to Thunderbird Mail Client. The installed and the available themes do not fit my eyes. ;)

The Seamonkey / Mozilla Modern Theme is simple and no colorfull. Like yours.

Is there any development done or planned for Thunderbird?

Thanks Kuden, i'd worked out my issue before you replied.
Anyway, i come with another issue.

It seems Past Modern is causing Firefox to lag when zooming in. The theme seems to interfere with site backgrounds? because when i disable the background the lag disappears, or i can keep the background and use the default theme and there is no problem.

Onemanga.com is one of the affected sites, and the image i thought was responsible is http://om-static.s-onemanga.com/manga/bg.png

Kuden: Thanks for the update. I like a new 3D looking tabs button. Can you also make tabs headers more 3D looking with gradient? (Similar to default theme idea). It's done pretty nicely in another modern theme (similar to past modern): GrayModern: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3594 (plain flat color looks pretty boring).

See the tab control:

Hi shmerl,

I'm always using the trunk (mozilla-central) builds.

I don't consider the backward compatibility of my theme.
It's because it causes the spaghetti code.

Because I'm not using Nightly builds of branch, Past Modern for Nightly builds of branch is not made.

However, Past Modern for Firefox 3.6 Beta 1 is opened to the public by the end of several days.
