Does anyone on this board know how long it takes for an addon to be public? I submitted my extension:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/7750

several weeks ago. But so far there isn't any update yet. I could not find any information about what's the (statistically) average time for an addon to go public.

Any comments or information are welcome and appreciated in advance.

When you say you 'submitted' your extension do you mean just that you uploaded it to AMO, or that you actually nominated it to go public? Extensions can be in the sandbox forever if they are not nominated to go public. To go public your extension will have to have at least a few reviews and some screenshots and a good description of it helps. Looking at your page it seems you have that, and at least a couple of favorable reviews. I would try to get 3-4 more people to review it and then nominate it. (There is some detailed description of this in your developer control panel at AMO, I don't remember exactly where)

I have no idea how long it takes for it to get reviewed after it's nominated. I have one pending review for Thunderbird and it's been pending for a few weeks. But then again Thunderbird is very much the redheaded stepchild of mozilla, maybe firefox reviews take a shorter time.

My extension became public 23 days after I nominated it.

I'm currently waiting for the latest version to be reviewed. It's now 9 days after I uploaded that new version.

The sandbox is totally backlogged since FF3 came out.

Take a look at:

Thanks for all of your kind replies. I do nominated the addon. And in my developer control panel, it is listed as "Cleeki Firefox Express (Extension; In Sandbox; Public Nomination) ". Regarding the screenshots or description, (as einare said) I have provided them. So I guess the reason might be either I still need a few more reviews on it or because of the backlog issue (as jwall42) stated. No matter what it seems I have to wait.

Thanks again.

I nominated my extension about two weeks ago, now it's still in "Public Nomination", I want to know when it could be released too.

Jack, let me say I'm not a reviewer, and there is a backlog.
But your extension might not pass because of this:

That said, your extension does look really cool.

The page is really helpful in getting your extension "ready" for review.

finny08, thanks very much for your kind info. Your link is very useful. The reason I included remote script is to save a user's trouble of updating. Though I am responsible for the script, I confess in general allowing remote script is a security issue for Firefox.

Anyway, I have updated the version and put the script in the extension. And thanks for your words on Cleeki.

Just to cheer you all up a little bit, one of my extensions has been and still is on "Public Nomination" for 2 months and 1 day now.

It's crazy, but the reviewers can't do anything about it, there are just too few of them...

Current status:
215 updates waiting for review
461 nominations

And I am swamped with real-life stuff (university) for the next three months :-(

I nominated mine 1 month and 4 days ago, nothing yet. :?

If they're swamped though, they're swamped. Not much we can do about that.

It has been over 3 months since I have nominated my ext and I have not received any approval or rejection. Is there a way to check to see if anyone has reviewed my ext? https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/8200

In the end my extension almost took 4 months to get approved for the first time. Try talking to the people on the moznet #addons iRC channel, they might be able to help or at least explain a bit more.
