It seems that the extension is working again with the 20030611 build (had issues with the latest couple builds).

Tonight, tonight, won't be just any night
Tonight there will be Flash Click to View!
Tonight, tonight, I'll kill those ads tonight
And perhaps, it will be, 0.2?

Of course by tonight I meant at some indeterminate point in the future. ;-) I'll see what I can do.

I was wondering if there's an easy way to make same kind of filtering for java-applets?? I tinkered with it a bit, but didn't manage to get it working..

Probably not, there's a bug about xbl bindings not working on plugins.

There apparantly is a workaround available for flash sites, because <A href=http://www.tomshardware.com/>Toms hardware guide</a> is merrily playing flash ads. Any thoughts?

N.N.: I love flash click to play extension. Keep up the good work!

I don't know what I've one. FCtV used to work perfectly for me, now when I click on the icon, the entire Flash area disappears. I can't see Flash at all.

I clean-installed FB 0710, with a new profile, and since FCtV wasn't installed, I ccould see Flash. Installed the Grayrest version of FCtV (along with Linky, Nuke Image, and TBE), and I can't get to any Flash.

Microsoft using Java

Post by deuchard@netscape.net »

Great extension Ted.
I've been using it for a while and I love it.

Just today I went to a website and got hit by a Flash-style animation (which surprised me).
It was a Microsoft XP add.
It turned out to be a Java Applet pretending to be a Windows Media Plugin.
here's the site (if you're interested)

Looks like this is a new concept from EyeWonder

Is anyone working on the bug you mentioned in the previous post?

Grayrest's version still supported?

Post by Cantello »

I just installed a new nightly (20.07.) and went on installing Grayrest's modified version of flashblock (the one with the nice rounded buttons) and now when I click on a flash animation it simply disappears.

Did anyone else experience such a behaviour?

I'd like to use flashblock (very handy extension) but the standard click-to-view-text is rather not-so-pretty...

I'm having the identical issue (see a few posts above). I haven't tried the "offical" Ted version again, but since I know it isn't just me, I think I will. Perhaps something happened to the FB code that doesn't allow this trick to work anymore.

Based on this thread, I'm <a href="http://homepage.mac.com/rue/Adblock/Changelog-Public.xml">adding applet-trapping</a> now. I'll post again when it lands.

Adblock d24 is posted, and applet-binding is live. I cant load deuchard's page without a hard-crash, so I'm hoping someone will test it out and verify the flashblock-routine catches it.

For those unaware, the v.4 dev-branch owes a big tip-of-the-hat to Ted and Flash-Click-To-View, so hopefully you'll excuse the seemingly unapropos nature of this post.

Good Cheer,
rue

Cool :)

Sounds neat, I'll have to try it out when I get a chance.

I'm having the same issue aswell. Fresh build, with a new profile. :-X
The flash click to view version that I got working has 2 buttons, one "click to play" and the other "click to remove". This version is working nicely, but as Cantello said is "rather not-so-pretty".

cheers
