Re: Modded Extensions for SeaMonkey
P.S. Normally it should not be necessary for extensions which include no binary components and support at least 2.1, thanks to the "Automatic Addon Enable" feature: for these extensions (but not for themes and language packs), SeaMonkey will automatically override the maxVersion (but not the minVersion) except for extensions which have been found really incompatible and blacklisted at AMO for the version you're running.
P.P.S. If an extension doesn't support SeaMonkey at all you cannot even install it without, at the minimum, tinkering with the install.rdf file contained in the .xpi (which is a .zip under a different name).

Re: Modded Extensions for SeaMonkey
Well, neodiggler doesn't work, it's there on the navigation bar, but all it does is clear it, nothing else.
Make Link seems to work fine though.

I'm getting them from here:

I'd like to make a plea for Grab and Drag. I think it's very useful for reading longer texts in the browser, as an alternative to autoscrolling.

- It's released under MPL 1.1 so no licensing problem.
- Try adding the following (untested) in install.rdf (in the .xpi which is just a .zip under a different name). Put it immediately before or immediately after the <em:targetApplication>…</em:targetApplication> for Firefox (any whitespace is irrelevant):
Code: Select all
<em:targetApplication>
<!-- SeaMonkey -->
<Description>
<em:id>{92650c4d-4b8e-4d2a-b7eb-24ecf4f6b63a}</em:id>
<em:minVersion>2.1</em:minVersion>
<em:maxVersion>2.*</em:maxVersion>
</Description>
</em:targetApplication> - Note: I didn't check the extension's defined namespaces. Sometimes it's <RDF:Description> (with RDF:) and/or <targetApplication>, <id>, <minVersion> and <maxVersion> (without em:) instead (and, of course, the same for the closing tags). Copy what they did for Firefox.
Edit:
- The above (with <rdf:Description>) is enough to let it install
but not to make it work. Its preferences can be set, and it sees the Shift-Alt-D hotkey, but otherwise no button, no cursor change and no mouse dragging. There must be some needed magic elsewhere in the extension. - Middle-mouse dragging works.
- You can download this (working but imperfect) modded extension from here.
- The button is there but it has no icon. Put it between two separators on a toolbar. But it won't tell you the grab/no-drag status.
Best regards,
Tony

Heh, sorry Tony, I had already done/found that but forgot to mention it here since I thought Phil would know that I wouldn't put up a request for an add-on here that almost works. Maybe I should change my nick here. Done.

I know who you are, Jens; it's just that I don't always look at who I'm answering. The idea is that anyone else (even a newbie) coming with the same question should be able to use the answer.
But I used to have that extension in Firefox some years ago; now thanks to you I installed it in SeaMonkey and published the XPI — which almost works. If Phil (or someone) can go on from there and make the icon display, so much the better.
Best regards,
Tony

Re: Modded Extensions for SeaMonkey
It seems that GreaseMonkey userscripts are not working, and I don't know why.
My combination is SeaMonkey 2.5 (rv:8.0.1) and GreaseMonkey 0.9.13.1; while the current GreaseMonkey 0.9.xx branch version for legacy Firefox is 0.9.22, and the most current GM version for Firefox is 1.0.
I don't even know what I am doing wrong...

Can this xpi file, Deselect on Delete, be ported for Seamonkey 2.11?
https://bitbucket.org/squib/deselect-on ... 1.1pre.xpi
Thanks,

Re: Modded Extensions for SeaMonkey
This is a pretty great extension for saving bandwidth on bandwidth limited connections:
ImagePref - Firefox addon to show or hide images using a status bar button
I'd love to have it for SeaMonkey because ATT just informed me that instead of an unlimited connection as my contract stated I now only get 5GB a month....

Re: Modded Extensions for SeaMonkey
Any hope of making neodiggler work in SeaMonkey?
How about Image Zoom?

Modifying my reply:
Neodiggler works fine with add-on <https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/checkcompatibility/> installed.
Image Zoom however, still does not work either way.

NeoDiggler only clears the location bar for me, are you sure you know how the extension is supposed to work?

Nevermind, it does seem to be working now. No idea why....
