AMO Switching to Firefox Accounts?

AMO Switching to Firefox Accounts?
When I visit AMO for an add-on, I'm now presented with a request to sign up for a Firefox Account. Will we now be required to have an account to be able to download add-ons?

I'm not aware of any plan to force signing in just to download or install an addon. Wouldn't put it past Mozilla, the way they're thinking at the moment! They have been tinkering with the switchover to Persona accounts for addon management for months now and a number of strange things have happened along the way. I'd guess this is another one, or perhaps just a clumsy form of promotion.
