conundrum about legacy add-ons user counts stats on amo!

Post by yochaim »

can anybody explain how DownThemAll (for ex.) was able to break the quantum barrier and have about 450000 users on ff61...
at least according to the stats page https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... /?last=365

This probably counts profiles with DTA! installed, no matter if enabled or not.

Fx 57+ doesn't uninstall legacy addons, it just disables them.

counts should be average for enabled add-ons in the past two weeks...

Maybe this is not discounting addons disabled by incompatibility, which is different from manually disabling. If someone with DTA disabled by incompatibility in Fx 57+ downgrades to Fx 56-, DTA will be activated. So there is some parameter indicating that the extension should be enabled if it were compatible, and maybe that's what the counter is considering.

If there is a legacy addon/extension, does the "check for updates" still work against those, so if they ever get updated to a modern version, they will get updated properly?

Thanks.
