How to add subject to HTML with a Thunderbird extension?

Post by nxkryptor »

I am trying to create an email tracking addon based on Google Analytics as discussed here [https://dyn.com/blog/tracking-email-ope ... analytics/]. I need to modify the script such that the subject line of the email message is added to the Google Analytics URL, which is given below:

<img src="http://www.google-analytics.com/collect ... 12345678-1
&cid=CLIENT_ID_NUMBER&t=event&ec=email&ea=open
&el=recipient_id&cs=newsletter&cm=email&cn=CAMPAIGN_NAME">

I would like the CAMPAIGN_NAME to be a combination of the email subject in the email message and if possible the message number (i.e. in an email with multiple replies the position of the message). Can this be done in Thunderbird?

That is to say, I need to track the subject and reply separately in Google Analytics. Is this possible?
