(Reverted) Forum update downtime on Monday 4/11
Hello Mozillazine!
As all of you are well aware, this forum has been having some technical problems over the last few months, e.g. viewtopic.php?f=11&t=3078542. In lieu of a proper administrator, OSL has prepped maintenance to upgrade this forum to a modern version of PHPBB (3.2.11) that will (hopefully) resolve all the broken stuff.
We are planning on performing this upgrade next Monday, 4/11/22, at 2PM PST (21:00 UTC). We anticipate this upgrade to take around 8 hours, during which all forums will be unavailable.
Please let us know if there are any problems after the update on this thread or via an email to support@osuosl.org.
Best,
OSL Sysadmins
---
EDIT:
Due to the major problems with logins and moderation tools being more broken on the newer update, we have reverted this in the meantime while we investigate a fix.

With this update will we be able to unlock the Knowledge Base and begin resurrecting its contents?
Thanks for looking out for us!

Re: Forum update downtime on Monday 4/11
Good news. Thanks. So it is going from 3.0.12 to what new version?
Will things look or work differently? Or is it just fixing broken things?
Great news either way.

So, who are OSL? Well, they are these guys - https://osuosl.org/ The people who have made an enormous contribution to the Open Source movement and, indeed, to the very Internet itself.
They are also the people who host stuff for, phpBB - https://www.phpbb.com/about/ whose software they will be updating here. As part of such an update, it's always SOP to backup the entire database before hitting the button.
Even so, (Having said that/That being said, for US readers) I would strongly advise all members/users/perps here to backup/copy any posts or PMs that may be of particular import to themselves, prior to the scheduled forum software update on Monday, 4/11/22, at 2PM PST (21:00 UTC). (rough translation: sometime on the 11th of April). It'll be fine, but do it anyway.
Exciting times, eh?

Tomorrow is the big day!! Looking forward...
I often take a long windy road to my destination. Upon arrival, I wonder how I missed the shortcut.
