akahige: glad I could help but silvermel theme is the real culprit here with it's own custom icon for compact menus and yes my fix is only a bandaid to the real issue at hand with silvermel. Since silvermel is not a publicly distributed theme I believe the current bandaid is a good fix.

Please forward your concerns to the silvermel developer with respects to the other affected areas, toolbars, etc. good luck.

I can do that. Is it worth your time to explain the technical details behind the glitch? (If so, PM me and I'll forward the info to the developer.)

actually it's fairly simple, the theme literally directly overrides the extension listing, toolbar icons, etc and does so with that 48x48 (?) large icon. The overrides are in the menus and extension css files of the theme. just extract the them and do a search within the files for "compact menu" and you'll the files that contain several css hacks and overrides.

I forgot who was maintaining silvermel, but it's just a matter of cleaning up the css hacks and possibly using a smaller icon, but that's just my opinion.

mrtech: Still getting install chrome error in SeaMonkey if I try to install full installer over previous version. Have to uninstall previous version, then install goes fine.

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.1) Gecko/20060130 SeaMonkey/1.0 - Build ID: 2006013012

I am installing to profile, not globally, if that makes a difference.

Many thanks for this very great extension !

Just a missing : an option in "my Config" in order to choose the title of the page for the saved html file..

Is it possible ?

Ooops.. no reply, so i clarify my request :)

Currently, the file "My Config.html" is generated without <title> tag. I just want to know if you could add it wthin a next release, or add an option (or a piece of code) allowing to choose this title here:

It is missing that deactivates the update-check for themes.

haven't added them to themes since by default themes really can't be manually enabled/disabled, but might consider adding this in, thanks.

edit: actually the system can disable themes, so I'll add the full menu, txs again.

Strange malfunction with Local Install

Post by jwalzer50 »

I hope this is the right place to address this. I am running TB 1.5 & had Local Install 4.2.3 running along with a few other extensions. It has been working fine for weeks, if not months. When I went into my extensions it showed that an update to 4.2.3.1 was available. Clicking update did notheing however. So I uninstalled 4.2.3 & tried to install 4.2.3.1 manually. Nothing happens. I have installed 5 or 6 additional extensions & deleted a couple to install newer versions (after the probelm with LI) & they are all fine. I have shut down TB & then restarted my PC to no avail. I really like the functionality of LI & would hate to lose it.

by the way, I cannot now install 4.2.3 either.

I've seen something similar happen only a couple of times, but no with my extension, somehow the extension get hung in somekind of filelock loop.

Try the following:
- open your profile directory
- close thunderbird completely (check the task manager to make sure it's dead)
- in the root profile directory delete/backup the extensions.ini, extensions.cache & extensions.rdf files
- then navigate to the "extensions" directory and
- delete the whole {9669CC8F-B388-42FE-86F4-CB5E7F5A8BDC} directory
- then restart thunderbird and reinstall Local Install

Let me know if that helps.

MR Tech install problems

Post by vinieux »

When I was on ver 4.2, nothing I did would upgrade MR Tech. Every time I started Firefox, it would ask for an update, and say MR Tech will be upgraded when I restart Firefox. Restarting Firefox would not upgrade it, again it would say an update 4.2.3 was available and go through the motions again WITHOUT upgrading actually.

So I manually got rid of the extension and reinstalled 4.2.3 from scratch. Now I am having the identical problem when I try to upgrade to 4.2.3.1. Why are these bugs repeating themselves?? BTW I have no clashing extensions at least as per your 'Special instructions' and list of extensions that are not required if I have MR Tech installed... Here is my list of extensions
