I am having this same issue in Nvu, but with the "extensions" and "themes" buttons. Any ideas?

EDIT: I have been noticing this for the last several builds, not sure exactly when it started.

@mrtech: I just stumbled over FEBE, the Firefox Extensions Backup Extension. This sounds like it would be highly useful to integrate it into MTLI (to archive the extensions).

howdy mrtech,

*****
it's not mtli, it's either update notifier or some glitch in my profiles. sorry for the false finger-pointing! [*blush*]

plus, it DOES happen in ff1501, also.

take care,
lee
*****

having weird problems with mtli since approximately v-4.2.5 on tb150. the problem does NOT exist on my ff1501 install.

i have NOT tested this in a clean profile yet.

== problem
- use "find updates" button in em to find updates
- when update for mtli is found, hilite mtli [since hitting the update button won't work unless the ext entry is already hilited]
- hit the update button
- watch the update get dl'd
- note that the new mtli file is in the archive folder as expected
- see the notice that mtli will be updated when tb next restarts
- restart tb with the mtli restart icon on the em window
- when tb has restarted, open em and see that the update did NOT install NOR is there any notice that an update exists or that it will be installed after the next restart
- note that the mtli update file is STILL in the archive folder

- repeat the above
- note the same results

- -repeat the above
- note that mtli installed this time

that's taking three cycles to install! [*grin*] it's done this for versions 4.2.5, 4.2.5.1, and 4.2.6 so far. it MAY have done this for earlier versions, but i simply wasn't paying attention. [*sigh ...*]

i thot this was just "one of those things" and ignored it the 1st time. the 2nd time, i paid attention but decided it was pro'ly still me ... [*grin*] the 3rd time i paid closer attention to it and decided i otta let you know about it.

my info ...

I have a suggestion. Would it be possible to add an export xxx as XML function?

It would be very useful because it would allow direct website intergration such as extension listing scripts and such :)

I have a request. I'm not sure if this is a good fit for "Local Install", but here goes:

I have 68 extensions installed (most of which I actually use). Whenever a web app uses Javascript to launch a "popup" window, it seems as if all of these extensions are loading along with the new window (or am I just imagining this?).

Anyway, it would be nice if I could "disable" extension loads with respect to Javascript-loaded popup windows. I wouldn't normally access most of the extensions through the popup anyway, so there isn't a necessity for them to load.

(Of course, if I am wrong with extensions reloading with a popup window, this idea is null and void.)

Thanks for your consideration.

MR Tech REFUSES to upgrade

Post by vinieux »

It is a great pity that a bug I reported at least two weeks back still ersists, and that too, on 2 machines with completelty different settings. There is no WAY I can get MR Tech to upgrade to the latest version without uninstalling completely and reinstalling from scratch. Worse still, you don't even post a reply to my complaint...

Mr Tech STILL REFUSES to upgrade

Post by vinieux »

OK Let me be VERY clear this time so that someone at least replies to this post. I use FF 1.5.0.1 on 2 different Win XP Intel machines with different sets of extensions - NONE of them in your list of conflicting extensions. My last post a week or so back, I had also listed my installed extensions.

From MR Tech Local instal 4.1 onwards, THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL I can get it to upgrade decently. Every time, it insists that the new version will be installed when I restart FF and when I restart - there is the older version sitting there smugly staring at me.

Is it possible for anyone to point out a REAL solution to this annoying problem?? At least to tell me whether it is a BUG or something wrong at my end? I refuse to create new profiles to clear this problem by the way... I've done enough of that and I am SICK of it...

I've seen this happen on occasion. What I did was restart Firefox and just install the update again. For some unknown reason, some previous updates of Mr Tech Local Install wouldn't "take" on the first try.

vinieux,
i've read your other thread, about the same problem in TB. There you've said that you deleted chrome and extensions folders. Did you do the same in Fx? Because if you did, you may have to reinstall Fx (and TB) as those folders are default and your Fx (and TB) have no folders to store extensions any more. Knowledge base gives you instructions on how to reinstall Fx/TB without loosing your data.
