I never realized how much I relied on double clicking the tab bar for a new tab until now lol ahhh withdrawls!!
It works fine for me. Only certain website has this annoying quirk, though.

I'm using 121502 and 20031216 Firebird and am having no problems with ^T creating a new tab. I used an old profile.
I noticed that some of the installations and playing around can mess up your TBE prefs. This was several days ago though. Perhaps you could check all your pref settings. Otherwise, the old story with clean profile, etc. applies.

Hmm, I never use AdBlock. For adblocking I always use the Ad Blocking Tip listed here. Seems to be working fine for me.

Both WFM with the same combo (on XP). Try a new profile, or a complete uninstall (including manual removals) of TBE; there were some transition issues with the newer versions of TBE.
you know what, i was a tad hasty in conclusions
i overlooked the fact that each time i reinstalled i changed the tbe preferences to my liking
i found the problem now and it is has nothing to do with adblock
in tbe prefs, under startup, for when new tabs are opened, if this is set on home page, the sysmptoms described above will occur

im much more sure now this is the issue
I've had that option checked since it was an option (probably Fall 2002) and haven't had any problems with it.
