It is no longer so impeded by TBE whether it's a fresh load or after Mozilla was already in memory. The size of TBE may have gotten bigger but something important is changed now. And I basically have just about every option running. It's great!!

I agree that what I tried performed surprisingly well despite the big increase in size. I'm guessing that he tweaked a few of the algorithms used for tab operations. A look at the code will give you an idea of how much work is being done to maintain all this stuff on tabs. I'll see if I can hack the current version with the fix and then put it up on the web when I get home tonight unless someone else has already done so.

Thanks, does that get copied into the usechrome.css like Piro patch. If so how do you get it there from the download maanager? Install it to the desktop and copy with notepad?

No, because the link is for a complete TBE: The "patch" is not an addtional patch, it is a patched version of TBE.

As an aside, I've been using the latest TBE from Piro's site, with his userCrhome.css patch for a few hours now, with Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.6b) Gecko/20031211 Firebird/0.7+ and 20031210, and that combination seems to be working fine.

Of course, now that I've let Firebird and TBE know that....

Do you install the extension in the chrome folder in your profile?

Yes, I've always installed TBE to the profile, which makes it easier to update Firebird itself.

I've found that the only extension I have to keep reinstalling when updating Firebird is GoogleBar, and I'm not sure why.

Well I deleted old version, installed the 120902 patched version, and nothing showed up on the task bar, so I reinstalled old version and the new version showed up on task bar. Thanks for your help John.

I'm sorry, but I cannot accept your thanks.

Why not?

Well, I'm simply unwilling to be responsible for the oddness of your installing a new version, then an old one, and after installling the old one, having the new one appear....

Up and running. No problems so far. this is the 02 release. I did have a fair amount of problems getting the XPI. I guess Piro's site took a lot of hits.

If I don't have "Open new tab instead of windows for new windows opened by JavaScript' checked Firebird crashes with the new updated TBE. I get the no XBL binding for browser message.

Anybody have a link to the previous TBE extension? I had no problems with that one but for some reason decided to upgrade to the new one and have encountered many problems.

1.9:

1.8 (which I use w/ 0.7 and it works perfect):
http://white.sakura.ne.jp/~piro/xul/xpi ... 031002.xpi

The install dialogs are in Japanese (for 1.8 at least), but I just stumble through them.

THere's a new 12/15 TBE in the test area. I'm running it now and it seems okay. The interesting thing is that it's back down to about 220KB.
