Well it seems to log in, and i can watch it create the "bookmarks.html" but then it just hangs. Originally I thought it was just my slow connection at work, but even on the broadband connection at home it does the same thing. Are any special settings required for the FTP?

I also think the part that is monitoring the change in the bookmarks file locally is a bit buggy, now if I have the extension installed firebird crashes everytime I try and add a bookmark.

I'm running the new 4.1en version of the extension and build 20031211 of firebird on windowsXP SP1.

THANK YOU Torisugari.
I have been waiting for this extension for so long! It is great!

Just a bug though.. Everything works on the dowload/upload front on start up/shutdown. But every time I try to write to the bookmarks.html file (add a bookmark or manage and move a bookmark or create a separator), firebird crashes... On restart, the modification doesn't appear on the uploaded file...

Any idea? Has anyone been able to reproduce that error?
A note of warning though, not sure if it might have something to do with it, but my bookmarks.html file has been carried over from version to version of firebird for quite a few months now... Could it have anything to do?

Anyway, well done and thank you again!

I've started using it now and I must say it works well. I do have a few things to mention though.

One, during startup, the confirmation dialog usually loses focus and gets hidden by the browser window. I have to click on the taskbar to get it back, which is a bit of a pain. Any way to make it stay on top until I finish with it?

Two, it always demands my security password before it downloads, which keeps the process from being fully automatic and it's not something I'm worried about security over anyway. I'd really like to bypass the password entirely here.

Three, I once had my bookmarks become unavailable because my download connection failed. I had to restart to get them back. I think we need a manual download/refresh function in addition to the manual upload function mentioned above.

Four, I want to change the taskbar window icon. What should I name the icon?

Finally, I just tried installing the 3.2 version, and even though the install script says 3.2, the extension is listed as 3.1 and just like flatrabbit mentioned above, it's all in Japanese. (No problem for me either though, of course. :D)

I myself does not like this extension because this is using some ugly coding. I've been playing around this extension for a few days. but it seems that it's a little hard to keep this extension without those ugly hack. It's partly because bookmark structure is very old. And that's why, I guess, extension authors woluld not like to handle bookmark directly. You know, there are few, if any, extensions which has something to do with bookmarks. IIRC, bengoodger, who is a bookmark specialist, was planning to redesign bookmark, and firebird is UI reformation project so that probably we will get brand new bookmark in the future, but it also probably will take a long time. I think it is after FB 1.0 unless roadmap is modified again.
Thank you.

Torisugari, I want to ask again if you could include a retry feature in this extension. I've had several problems with bad connections (having to do with my P2P program taking up all the bandwidth at the time) and could really use it. The other day I even lost all my bookmarks to it when it combined with the lost bookmarks bug to nuke everything. Just a simple "try again" ability on the uploads and downloads would be perfect.

It's a great extension, and just what people like me need. Keep up the good work.

Retry upload is easy, but retry download is impossible. Then my plan is DL/UL bookmaks folder (probably a xml file) instead of your entire bookmarks (html). Or... IIRC, reload bookmarks is filed in bugzilla, so that you can vote it.

Ok, I understand. Half is better than none. :D How about this then: if the download fails have it use the local bookmarks file instead, just like they do when you cancel the download, instead of them disappearing entirely.

I have been using this extention for a while now, but the stability is a big problem every time I surf awhile and want to add a bookmark it crashes Firebird. But after I close it and load it back up I am able to add bookmarks.

If you can get this thing more stable before 0.8 I would like to add it in my Black Diamond Edition. Because it is very useful not needed by all but useful.

Well, I think I can't, but I'd like it to be in 1.0.

As I said before, shifted from html file to simple xml file. More stable than before, and having no big trouble so far.

My xml file is

Thanks Torisugari, I tried v.0.6.1 and it works great using one of my ftp sites.

When I tried to use it with my Comcast webspace, I get 'Error 2152398862'.

Any ideas? Are one of my settings wrong, or is it probably just a Comcast thing?

I probably won't use Comcast's space for myself, but for many of my friends and clients, it's the only space they have.

It looks like a Philadelphia-area phone number. Maybe I should try calling it. :)

Firebird 0.7 (Win32)
Bookmarks FTP 0.6.1

Everything works great other than the fact that the Bookmarks Toolbar screws up (nothing shows up even though the folder is there) and I can't manage my bookmarks (can't add, set as Bookmarks Toolbar Folder, etc.).

This happens when:
I remove all my bookmarks, don't upload, and then redownload.
Remove my whole profile, and then redownload.
Use another computer that doesn't have my bookmarks, and download.

Good thing I backed up before I tried this, eh? :)
Let me know if you need more information.

I'm sorry for poor error handling. 2152398862 = 0x804B000E means "TIME OUT".

I guess that server did not exist (temporaly or not).

You are right. And I'm at a loss what I should do. Bookmarks toolbar has changed between 0.7 and 0.8. So I'd like to fix it when the format seems to be frozend.
