I'd like to use this, but I don't want my bookmarks to get lost. Would it be a good idea to wait for this extension to be formally updated to the 0.8 milestone?

I'm sorry for poor error handling. 2152398862 = 0x804B000E means "TIME OUT".

I guess that server did not exist (temporaly or not).

Arkaine101 wrote:Bookmarks Toolbar screws up (nothing shows up even though the folder is there) and I can't manage my bookmarks (can't add, set as Bookmarks Toolbar Folder, etc.).

This happens when:
I remove all my bookmarks, don't upload, and then redownload.
Remove my whole profile, and then redownload.
Use another computer that doesn't have my bookmarks, and download.

You are right. And I'm at a loss what I should do. Bookmarks toolbar has changed between 0.7 and 0.8. So I'd like to fix it when the format seems to be frozend.

What changed? It works in the latest builds? Maybe I should just use those.
Perhaps it would be better if it used the HTML version, and not XML. I know it's larger, but it it works... :)

Version 0.7 is out.

Bookmarks Toolbar Folder problem is fixed. Targeting fb/fx version is newer than last Oct. trunk, so that fb0.7 is not supported any longer.

Excellent Torisugari! Exactly the extension I and a few others have been craving for! Thank you.

I would just comment on two things:

- Would it be possible to support separators? At the moment, all the separators you may have between bookmarks or folders are lost when you synchronise with the central version. That is somehow limiting as separators are a great way to organise visually your bookmarks by genre.

- Would it be possible to have an option to switch off automatic upload/download and add a button to action manually the synchronisation? Users know when they have modified their bookmarks on one of their machines, it would therefore prevent to systematically check for new bookmarks at start up.

Otherwise, as I said, great extension! Thank you very much!
A grateful laurentbon!

Well,

[*] Separator

The problem is original XBEL's separator does not have id attribute nor title/info/metadata elements. On mozilla (fx), on the other hand, you can freely name separators, as you know. This extension is parsing xml manually, so basically it can do whatever I want. But I'm not sure what I should do.

Pardon? Where to add that button?

This is a bit too technical for my limited knowledge..
so basically it can do whatever I want
Do you mean it is possible?
Where to add that button?
Would it be possible to make that button available to the interface so that users can place it wherever they want on their toolbars?
Otherwise, just from the extension option window would be fine by me.

Thanks!

Possible, but it might not be standerd compliant, if you think xbel is the standard format for bookmarks.

You mean testing uploading/downloading button? OK.

I think it will be more practical keeping the separators. But I don't know anything about compliance.... Sorry!

Yep, basically, you can turn off automatic uploading/downloading and click a button to synchronise the bookmark file manually.

I'm on the .8 release, and am using the .7 release of Bookmarks FTP, and it seems as if I've been losing keywords to my bookmarks. Has anyone else had this happening to them?

How about adding the Manual UL/DL options to Tools or Bookmarks on the menubar?

You have out done yourself now. This is the best most stable yet.

Update:
Although I am having a problem on Linux using Firefox 0.8 and Bookmarks FTP 0.8.1. The bookmarks that are on the bookmarks toolbar are not clickable on the toolbar but if I go to the file menu Bookmarks - Bookmarks Toolbar Folder it works fine.
