I hope someone else answers this query of yours because I do not know for sure about the mac. If you can open the XPI file with an archiver (like a Zip), and edit (it's plain text) the install.rdf and change the MAXVersion to 1.6a1, it might work. Then rezip all files to an XPI extension.
Win 10 Pro desktop, but now 64-bit latest Windows 10. Usually latest or latest-1 Thunderbird on this machines.

Thanks walkerpbus. You solved my problem. Your modifications made bookmarkssynchronizer work again under Firefox 1.5 (Windows XP).

Hello guys !!

Well this extension is a really good stuff, and I could say one of the best extensions I tested, or at least the more practical.
It has became necessary for me.

The problem yet is that I can't go threw this bug "Files is not xbel format".
I read on a topic that it was certainly due to unvalid ASCII caracter... I searched the web to find an application to open and edit .xml files to find thoses caracters, but the ones I found were based on Java. Unfortunately I'm using at the moment an university terminal on wich Java is not installed (and with limited rights on the computer).

It's really pain, cause I can't get my boormarks back at the moment... Wich is really troubling.

For information, the .xml file was made with firefox 1.0 (french language) and the bookmarks synchroniser extension in its 1.0 version.
I'm now using firefox 1.5, in its portable version which you can find here), wich has nothing to do with this I think, but I give you all the information.

Is there a way to make my .xml save compatible ?
I've seen that this question has already been asked on this topic, but no answers has been given.

Thanks a lot

Is anybody continuing to support this extension? I tricked it to work in 1.5 (via "Mr Tech's Local Install" which has a Version override), but what really is annoying is that it conflicts with other extensions so that the upload-on-exit does not work automatically anymore.
Also I have the strange feeling that the "merge" function is somewhat broken - it messed up my bookmarks pretty much during my first experiments and since then I leave it switched off :-)

OK, there's definitely a conflict between "Bookmarks Synchronizer" (1.1.2 and earlier) and "MR Tech Local Install" - if I deactivate Local Install, then the upload-on-exit works again. If I reactivate it, upload-on-exit does not even start.

However I only stumbled across "Local Install" a few days ago, but I experience upload-on-exit problems for significantly longer. Therefore there must be at least one other extension which conflicts with BMS.

Here is my current list of extensions:

- Add Bookmark Here
- Adsense Notifier
- Amazing Media Browser
- Bookmarks Synchronizer
- ColorZilla
- CustomizeGoogle
- Download Manager Tweak
- Fasterfox
- FirefoxView
- Flat Bookmark Editing
- FoxClocks
- GeoURL
- Gmail Notifier
- Google Toolbar for Firefox
- IE View
- MeasureIt
- MR Tech Local Install (if disabled, upload-on-exit with BMS works)
- refspoof
- Resizeable Textarea
- SearchStatus
- SEOpen
- SwitchProxy Tool
- User Agent Switcher
- Web Developer

Bookmarks Synchronizer 1.0.3 for Firefox 2.0

Does anyone know if that was released by the original author (torisugari)?

I like the idea of this extension, especially that you can export/import the sync file locally (since I cannot use FTP or HTTP(S) but need to use scp instead).

However on my first attempt to import the file, I got the following error alert:

Code: Select all

[Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x0004001 (NS_ERROR_NOT_IMPLEMENTED)
[nsIBookmarksService.transactionManager]" nsresult: "0x80004001 (NS_ERROR_NOT_IMPLMENTED)" location: "JS frame ::
chrome://bookmarksftp/content/bmsyncRDFService.js :: anonymous :: line 332" data no]

What now? :)

PS: Shouldn't this thread (or a similar new one) be in the "Extension/Theme releases" forum?

I'm now using Bookmark Synch n Sort http://users.adelphia.net/~uberugh/book ... dsort.html. It is the most recent I've found. Works with 2.0.0.2. (I don't think I bumped with Nightly Tester Tools, but I may have)

bookmarks synchronizer dialog box problems

Post by sadie53 »

hi;

I hope you can help me. I'm new and not computer savvy or a "techie". Last week, I wanted to try the bookmarks synchronizer, thinking I could put my firefox bookmarks on IE. Not even sure that's what it's for , or if I WANT to use it but it seemed a good idea at the time. A dialog box came up asking for my username and password, which I didn't have or know I have, so I closed the dialog box and forgot about it.

Now, that darned dialog box keeps coming up about every 2 minutes and I can't figure out how to make it go away! Can you help? I read all the FAQs and this issue wasn't in there; maybe I'm just so dumb that everyone else knows how to resolve it, but I don't, so I came here and hope the fix isn't too complicted!

thanks so much,
Sadie53
