afaik, TBE is jp-JP which is why you get warnings about the language when you install.

TBE includes support for jp-JP AND en-US (obviously). My question is what would happen if his extension supported only jp-JP and my application uses the en-US localization? Would it simply not work or would it have empty strings for the content?

Oops. I thought with "faut" the next verb would be infinitive.
It has been years since I've used my Francais.

I have translated the extension content to french but feel free to make suggestions.

Code: Select all

hmmmm i don't see this entity in my files :/

but i think:
"Comportement de la barre des onglets" can be change in "Comportement de la barre d'onglets"
"Cacher la barre des onglets quand un seul onglet est ouvert" -> "Cacher la barre d'onglets quand un seul onglet est ouvert"
"Ouvrir les nouveaux onglets à la page d'accueil" sounds strange, what's the english for this ? I think we can translate it in "Ouvrir les nouveaux onglets en page d'accueil" ...

"Comportement" i think we can say "gestion" (management) it's better i think :)

But the others are fine :)

another thing, the accents (é à è ...) don't work i think, you have to change them.

I know about this. I left them for easy reading for everyone else.

I took your changes for "des ongles" -> "d'ongles".

I think I will change the english phrase "Open new tabs at the home page" to "Load the home page for new tabs" as the former doesn't seem clear to everyone. How is "Charger la page d'accueil pour les nouveaux onglets" for the french?

I'm not sure why you suggest "gestion" instead of "comportement" since I'm talking about how tabs or links "behave/function" and not about management. It could be used instead though I guess.

Localization help

Post by Chris Cook »

Can anyone tell me what, if anything, special I need to do to get an extension to support multiple localizations? I've created all the locales and updated the xpi install script to install the different locales. If I install it over a previous extension version there does not seems to be any problems (although I haven't tried it with a non-english distro). However, if I install it in a clean version the browser won't run following the extension install.

Looking at the chrome.rdf reveals that all the specified locales were installed. I've checked over the code and everything looks ok so I'm left wondering if the script should install only the locale that is used by the application. Piro installs 2 locales in TBE though. Anyone have any thoughts?

Code: Select all

var version  = '0.3';
var err = initInstall('Tabbrowser Preferences', 'tabprefs', version),
             UChrome  = getFolder('Chrome'),
             messages = loadResources('install.properties'),
             files = [];

var contentFlag = CONTENT | DELAYED_CHROME;
var localeFlag  = LOCALE | DELAYED_CHROME;

logComment('initInstall: ' + err);
setPackageFolder(UChrome);

addFile('Chris Cook', 'tabprefs.jar', UChrome, '');
files.push(UChrome+'tabprefs.jar');
var folder = getFolder(UChrome, 'tabprefs.jar');

registerChrome(contentFlag, folder, 'content/tabprefs/');
registerChrome(localeFlag, folder, 'locale/en-US/tabprefs/');
registerChrome(localeFlag, folder, 'locale/fr-FR/tabprefs/');
registerChrome(localeFlag, folder, 'locale/de-DE/tabprefs/');
registerChrome(localeFlag, folder, 'locale/nl-NL/tabprefs/');
registerChrome(localeFlag, folder, 'locale/sv-SE/tabprefs/');
registerChrome(localeFlag, folder, 'locale/it-IT/tabprefs/');

err = getLastError();
if (err == SUCCESS) {
   performInstall();
   alert(messages.complete);
}
else {
   cancelInstall(err);
}
