Where to download the latest spell checker?

Post by bim »

The latest xpi you can download from http://spellchecker.mozdev.org/ doesn't seem to work in Mozilla 1.2b. Is there a more recent version that will work?

Have a look at <a href="http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=56301">bug 56301</a> for what's going on with this issue.

In the meantime, the spellchecker for Netscape 7+ should work in 1.2b

Not completely true. As I understand it, NS7's spell checker will work only on the Linux builds of Moz1.2b, but NOT on the win32 builds of Moz1.2b.

That's one of the reasons I am currently sticking with the 1.0.x branch - Netscape's (multilingual) spellchecker. It is extremely useful as I use Mozillla as my work browser/mail client - the less spelling errors, the better ;-)

On that note, it would be nice to see in-line spell-checking a la Omniweb on the mac (sorry, no screenshot), which wiggly underlines things it thinks you have misspelled (a bit like MS Word).
