I tweaked the tab bar a bit.
Luckily, my code for the tabs on bottom still works, I only added some padding-bottom to move up the text and increased the height from 25px to 30px in the CSS code I use for the tabs on bottom.

Code: Select all

/* TAB BAR - proton */
@media (-moz-proton) {

 *|*:root {
  --tab-min-height: 30px !important;
}

 #tabbrowser-tabs[haspinnedtabs]:not([positionpinnedtabs]) > #tabbrowser-arrowscrollbox > .tabbrowser-tab[first-visible-unpinned-tab] {
  margin-inline-start: 3px !important;
 }

 .tabbrowser-tab {
   padding-inline: 0px !important;
 }

 .tabbrowser-tab .tab-content {
   padding-bottom: 7px !important;
 }

 .tab-background {
   border: 1px dotted gray !important;
   border-top-color: transparent !important;
 }

} /* [-moz-proton] */

@ Snake4 - Maybe you don't know, but real Firefox Themes are unsupported for years, and I'm not talking about just only background image-like skins, like it's now with old Persona / Light Themes, which are named now "Themes".

No dividers between background tabs in big mistake and UX issue
yes i knew the " real firefox themes were unsupported for years " i myself don't really care tbh, if i cared i'd use Waterfox or PaleMoon

Since the latest Nightly uBO appears to be preventing me from going to any site intermittently. Eventually things start to work normally. During the times I can't get to any site disabling uBO clears this up. Anyone else seeing this?

Did you refresh the blocklists? There was some kind of insecure connection issue.

The default theme has changed to basically be identical to the light theme. Notably, the URL bar and the search bar are now filled in grey when not focused, making the entire main toolbar a grey mush. It's harder to focus on any particular elements.

And yeah, the bookmarks are way too spread out. The context menu isn't as big a deal because it's already fairly short, but bookmark lists can get long, and the extra spacing makes them harder to use. I have multiple folders that now require scrolling that used to easily fit on screen.

Isn't Proton supposed to make menus look like Windows 10 in my case? If so, the line spacing is indeed a little wider between lines as Alice noted. All in all Proton really doesn't rub me the wrong way although it appears it does to a lot of folks. Got to remember... people like to complain about things way more than saying they like something. Human nature I suppose.

I also notice that "Density: Compact" is gone, leaving only Normal and Touch making it harder to reduce the height of the Navigation Toolbar.
If "Density: Compact" would still be available then this could include compacter menus.
Looks that a lot of userChrome.css tweaking needs to be done once again :LOL:

Density: Compact is still around and works although the 'not supported' next to it's name does not bode well.

I didn't seeing "Density: Compact" on Linux as a choice on the customize page, but after fiddling with the theme (was using Default) and setting browser.uidensity = 1, Compact (not supported) started showing up.

OK, found a bug report and this is behind browser.compactmode.show
bug 1703254 - Maintain compact mode for current users and move to about:config preference

It depends what you mean by Windows 10.
It looks more like task bar context menu, and what we can find in "Modern UI" apps.
Classic "Win32" menus, like explorer (including desktop), are like Firefox had before.

Context menus with a lot of entries, like on an url in a text field (20 items in total : 4 different open, bookmark, save as, send link, ...), now take 40% of the screen height for me, meaning they are much more likely to open in the up direction, which is annoying.

Setting browser.proton.contextmenus.enabled=false reverts to the older context menus, avoiding the 45% height increase.
I hope this won't be removed.
