Interesting that Nightly updates on Windows will now occur in the background with it not running http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic ... #p14890834
why would it be interesting?

Since the latest Nightly I've gotten a couple of errors in my Event Log for Nightly. I think it might have something to do with the patch that Snake4 mentions above as I wasn't even in Nightly when the error occurred. The error is Access Denied which is an error code 5 (Event ID 5 also). In the data field I find this:

0000: 05 00 07 80 58 00 00 00 ...€X...
0008: 2F 62 75 69 6C 64 73 2F /builds/
0010: 77 6F 72 6B 65 72 2F 63 worker/c
0018: 68 65 63 6B 6F 75 74 73 heckouts
0020: 2F 67 65 63 6B 6F 2F 62 /gecko/b
0028: 72 6F 77 73 65 72 2F 61 rowser/a
0030: 70 70 2F 77 69 6E 6C 61 pp/winla
0038: 75 6E 63 68 65 72 2F 53 uncher/S
0040: 61 6D 65 42 69 6E 61 72 ameBinar
0048: 79 2E 68 y.h

Anyone find this error in their Event Log? I am guessing that whatever the resource the name above refers to is not allowing Nightly to access it

It definitely is the new update thingy. It created a Scheduled Task under a Mozilla folder called 'Firefox Nightly Background Update 6F193CCC56814779'. It defaults to run every 7 hours. I ran this task manually and sure enough I got the error.

There is a new option in Settings under General. You have to have 'When Nightly is not running' checked. If you uncheck it then you won't get the error.

Sounds about right. Remove all the things they don't want to touch.
