IF anyone wants to try out the Firefox 3.7 progress bar, someone created an extension that works on 3.5 and trunk/branch.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/14644

The more I use it, the more it grows on me. I just wish that it becomes animated with the native progress animation.
Latest: Firefox/3.5.5 - Thunderbird/2.0.0.23 - Flock/2.5.5 - SeaMonkey/2.0 - Camino/2.0 - Songbird/1.2.0
Nightly: Namoroka/3.6b3pre - Thunderbird/3.0pre - Flock/3.0a1 - SeaMonkey/2.1a1pre - Camino/2.1a1 - Songbird/1.4.0b3

FYI: If you have Tab Mix Plus, Tab Progress Bar will not work with it.

Yeah, I tried it on XP earlier.. it works, but blue isn't the right color for that.. i wished it was that progress bar green color on windows at least. Felt kinda weird having a pie chart move on the left and the progress line grow on the top.. it was like trying to pat your head and rub your tummy at the same time!

It didn't feel right together, but hey, its a proof of concept add-on i know. The weird part was more of the no boundary box for the progress line.. and the initial reaction is that you didn't quite get when it was going to be done or what it was doing..

and kinda felt like a moving tab was going to take off..

or explode..

or maybe it felt like a sound machine equilizer bar, like it was going to backwards too..which i was waiting for it to do that.. and receed.. which it could of! More power, less power.. Jim!
Like faster, slower.. put it into overdrive.. its going to over heat.. (now that would be cool, change colors while it doing it.. like fire, firefox orange, red, red hot!).

Or like a ramp up, ramp down.. Like more data to go, less data left to go!

The author says you can change the color using userChrome.css.

Code: Select all
@namespace url("http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul");
.tab-progress > .progress-bar { background-color: YOURCOLORHERE !important; }

Does anyone use Adblock plus 1.1.1 (last version i tried is adblockplus-1.1.1+.2009110507.xpi) find that some pages crash, despite it says it is compatible up to 3.7alpha?

Example: http://lms.unimelb.edu.au/ and click the button "Access the LMS". It crashes only with the 3.6 beta and not on 3.5:

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.2b2pre) Gecko/20091107 Firefox/3.6b2pre

Just saw this blog post: Changing the checkCompatibility preference

(I have no comment at this time.)
(Cross-posted in the Trunk thread.)

EDIT: Thanks to pal-moz for posting the bug link for this: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=521905
