Damn, it was called Phoenix, wasn't it... wouldn't be able to remember that if my life depended on it. Those days were interesting... I remember reading the headline: "Over 40000 lines of new code!"...

Well unless this bug makes Slashdot's frontpage, or gets reclassed as a security issue (it's not), it probably won't be resolved until 3.6.

Hmm, I never even noticed the change since I always look at the throbber in the tab rather than the cursor.

A big thanks to the gentleman who wrote the temporary extension to restore the hourglass until a more permanent one with options can be made. At least for me it works good. Anyone interested it's posted on the bug page, scroll down to the bottom:

Mr. Hugh was very kind to make it available, but still, it's a shame that we have to resort to such a heavy-handed hack to get this simple feature back...

Agreed, there was no reason to take the feature out, or at least make it optional. It was maddening not having that, especially in full screen.

For those not following this on Bugzilla, it has come to a solution. :) Spinner back in place soon.

The bug is: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=482985

Landed on trunk today for baking...Defaults to 'off', has to be enabled via about:config
pref: ui.use_activity_cursor

Doesn't look like it will be in 3.6, so that likely means you won't get it back until 3.7.. sometime next year.

There is an attachment here that is a 'hacky' addon - reportedly works, but I've not tested it, and may not work in 3.5.3 - test at your own risk..

Littlemutt, do you think it would it be feasible to ask someone to compile a custom build of 3.6 (maybe 3.6.1 to be on the safe side) with the patch included once it is released?

Sn0wflake, Dão asked for approval to land this in Fx 3.6. There are still good chances to see the patch land in it.

Defaults to "on" on non-OSX systems according to the latest patch posted - it's not in hg yet though.

Yes, indeed! I feel indebted to the coders involved in fixing this bug... this really means a lot to me.

teoli - Ahhh, I see. Thanks for the heads-up, man!
