Blank tabs do not open relative because they are not relative. Opening directly to the right is not opening relative. They probably should have made an about:config pref specifically for that behavior.
Tip of the day: If it has "toolbar" in the name, it's crap.

It's a relative position, but whatever you want to call it, it's needed and expected by many. Tab Control 0.5.3 seems to do the trick without packing in 87 other functions.

This was quite irritating, until
browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent true preference in about:config
fixed it for me too.
Thanks

from the feature request: "browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent seems to work just fine in 3.6 for
Ctrl-<click>, but new tabs (opened with Ctrl-T) still open in the far right."

has anyone found a way to open new tabs next to current, without an addon?

That's not possible. There are two options: original Firefox flavor of opening all tabs at the end of the tabbar, or 3.6 flavor of opening tabs "relative". There is no third option for a true/false setting. ;)

Vote for this bug to be fixed here: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=528005

It's getting really old opening up an empty tab and being shoved a dozen tabs down the line from where I was at in my work flow and then having to drag it all the way back. >_<

This should be a part of the browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent toggle. The same people that want links to open next to the current tab are the ones that want empty tabs to behave the same way.

Thank you! I came here looking for this and found it! Now I can open tabs the way I like them to open. =D>

I've seen some add-ons thrown about, here's one that will do only this..:)

Code: Select all
