Inkscape is a (better IMHO) fork of sodipodi

Whoowee!

Inkscape is amazing. I'm much more comfortable with the interface, and the controls are easier to understand. However, the rendering is slower. I see a place for both SVG viewer/editors.

This gets opened okay: http://www.croczilla.com/svg/samples/arcs1/arcs1.svg
This doesn't: http://www.inkscape.org/doc/examples/tux.svg

In fact, none of the Inkscape examples seem to get recognised by Firefox... Anyone any ideas why?

I see both images just fine.

I have some images first created with sodipodi but then edited with Inkscape and saved as Inkscape svg files. Those show up fine on SVG-enabled FF.

I'm running
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8a6) Gecko/20050107 Firefox/1.0+ (MOOX M2)
(no adobe plugin) and it's still like it was in my message above: the Croczilla images render, the Inkscape ones don't.

look in your options, Helper applications
remove the entry for image/svg-xml that points to MSIE

try again

[EDIT]
argh, still does not work with the links from above.

Although, I downloaded both SVG files and the changed option enabled me to open both files in Mozilla.

No idea why it does not work with the linked URLs

@John_Mall: Firefox has native SVG support, just disabled. It will be enabled in 1.1(?), I believe (at least, I'm sure I read that somewhere). MOOX Firefox CE has native SVG support enabled already, which is what I'm using.

@ansorg: Firefox doesn't have "Options->Helper Applications"... and as you found, it wouldn't help. The SVG rendered doesn't like those Inkscape files. Maybe I'll post a bug against SVG... (Maybe they'll drop the xmlns=... requirement...)

It looks like the SVG-enabled official builds are only updated for Linux ...
Am I wrong?
