Firefox 4.0 Beta 2 code freeze! (mozilla-central closed)
We should get 4.0b3pre in today's nightly build.
Hope dies penultimate. What remains till the end is sarcasm. And I have plenty of it.

Why such a rush?
We have 10 regressions/annoying bugs.
And App Tabs still don't get saved after new session.
Believe or not, personas are the most problem that friends and users from other forum are complaining about.
So what actually we have in beta 2?
Retained layers, XPCOM changes, App Tabs and a maybe 50 ms faster JS that none will feel?
I still don't get why such a rush... Especially when we have 10 regressions...

Because instead of having 2 betas in 6 months, we will have 6 betas in 4 months.

why is it a bad idea? there is no need for it to be Displayed like it is now, it serves no real purpose to Display it, all you will need to do is type

Code: Select all

about:buildconfig
in Address bar to get it

How would sites like Mozillazine grab that then? I think it was mentioned in the comments of the bug report...

if the Devs couldnt get it if they took the Build number out why would they take it out? "MozillaZine" is not affiliated with Mozilla. only people that really need to "Grab" the build number is the Mozila Devs themselves , as long as a website can identify the browser as being Firefox3 or Firefox4 thats all thats needed

Restoring App Tabs is not working for me. If i simply restart Fx it doesnt restore, if is crash Fx, it restores a blank page instead of App Tab... I tried with fresh profile.

there is no description. I don't get what is this bug about.

Check out this info:
Replacing Status bar with Add-on bar

ajnauron wrote:Wow that looks cool. I like the idea, but I don't think that after the statusbar disappears completely it will be completely obvious to users how to bring it back, since the arrow doesn't appear after it's disappeared.

Also, what happens if the window is maximized? Then there is no window edge to speak of, so where will the arrow be?

I started new trend about topic:Firefox 4 New Add-on bar and Statusbar Discussion

Started this trend because I was CURIOUS what others thought about Firefox 4 new Add-on Bar and the removal the of Status bar that we've come to know.

El Pino wrote:The point is that if you have session restore on (Firefox opens up tabs from last session) app tabs are restored as well, if you however start up with your homepage (no session restore), app tabs are not restored. App tabs are supposed to be more persistent than normal tabs, but as of now they are simply tabs with a different look (they can be easily closed, you can change domain, they don't restore, they have an url bar, all stuff that should be different from normal tabs).

Tiago Sá wrote:I think the bug that landed is about retaining the app tab state WHEN the app tabs are restored. Keeping app tabs even when users DON'T save their sessions is not in yet, I think.

If that's what you're thinking...

If I find a new bug I'll post it here ok.
