Re: Firefox 4 New Add-on bar and Statusbar Discussion

Does anyone know if there is actually a plan to *style* the addons bar? I don't mean the buttons, I mean the bar itself. It just appears to be a flat panel with no border and no shading.... it looks reallly strange amidst an otherwise complete UI!
Tip of the day: If it has "toolbar" in the name, it's crap.

Sorry about the multiple posts! Dang forum is hiccuping again.

Hmmm... well it seems as if the focus is on Aero users and the question of giving the toolbar itself a style is being ignored.

Both bugs are BetaN+ blockers.

I scanned this thread and I don't think either of these have been addressed.

I created a brand new profile and installed my extensions. Is there any particular reason that new buttons are added to the left of the close button on the Add-on Bar by default? I would assume that they would be on the right-hand side next to the status bar shim... Or at the very least to the right of the close button so that it matches the Find Bar.

Also, is there a bug for the following? (I have both Beta 10 and the last nightly installed and can confirm in both.)

When I load up Firefox, the Add-on Bar does not have a border along the top edge. If I open the Find Bar and then close it, then one is added to it and persists throughout the rest of the session. Take a look at the screenshot (top being after opening Firefox, bottom being after closing the Find Bar).

It's the decision of the addon developers.

Good to know--thank you!

Anything on the second part of my post (with the border issue)? I'm just trying to get the hang of scoping out Bugzilla, so please bear with me! ;)

On the second part of your question. Styling for the addon bar is still inconsistent (you might even say buggy) and it is still under development. Though I don't know if much is going to change now before 4.0 is released. I think it works especially poorly with in-content dialogs, meaning AMO for now.

But why would it be blue? Its totally distinct from the rest of the browser. Its not transparent or anything. And even if it were shouldn't look like this because I changed the saturation to zero a long time ago.

It matches your tabs. And if you switch to tabs on top it will match your toolbars. Blue is the default color of elements in Aero.

I styled mine to be transparent.

So... All that noise about Add-on Bar to end-up the same as tab color ?

I don't care, neither crying but just saying/wondering...
