Here it is: http://seb.delahaye.net/phoenix/Phoenix ... -setup.exe
Remember that sometimes, I just do not have the time to package & upload those things just after the official nightly appeared.

??? You need an installer ???

I thought Phoenix didn't need to be officially installed.
8) Windows: XPproSP2
8) Gentoo & Overclockix Live CD
8) Latest Firefox of course

It's an unofficial installer.

What are the advantages of using an installer?

You don't have to manually unzip, you get optional desktop/start menu shortcuts, etc.

I just created all those myself in a couple of minutes. Since they all point to the same folder location, it works with each new nightly.

Does the installer create registry keys?

I believe it creates an uninstall key. You can check the source of the installer: http://seb.delahaye.net/phoenix/installer.nsi

You won't need the installer, but that doesn't mean that there aren't people out there who feel much more comfortable using an installer. Phoenix needs a good and simple installation process for it to spread beyond the relatively small tech community.

This installer is a great (unofficial) attempt at doing just that. Nobody's forcing you to use it. This is the great thing about open source: choice.

I don't see why they're not using the Mozilla installer. I think it just has to do with them not having enough resources setting up build scripts

I think that they'll start to do that once they deem the browser 'mature' and ready for a wider audience.

It's already a pretty wide audience right now...

That depends a lot on what you mean by 'wide'. My dad reads tech news and keeps up with internet security problems, but he hadn't heard of Phoenix until I told him about it. He knows that IE has a crappy security record, but he just shrugs that off and keeps on patching like a mad man. Phoenix needs some major exposure on mainstream sites like CNN before it reaches an audience that I'd call 'wide'.
