i assume a respin occured for the l10n engb because i recieved a small update which fixed this.

For all with bad performance, enable accelerated layers. It should fix at least FX itself.
Hope dies penultimate. What remains till the end is sarcasm. And I have plenty of it.

Same here. Software Only and Direct2D/DirectWrite Only are completely useless for me, they are abysmally slow - I don't really notice any difference between them, either. I wouldn't be able to tell which one was faster if there were.
Enabling accelerated layers is the only way to make it usable for me at the moment.

on a slightly different note i'm seeing painting issues with the tool bars and flash also flash on the 904 nightly ... Is there a bug thread for it or should i post a new one !

The performance problem has very little to do with D2D. It's a generalized layers problem that Rob's working on.
