I was struggling with this myself, until I found that it was an extension issue and disabled AdBlock Plus in Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions.
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=594482 Bug 594482 - Java applets broken with content policies (NoScript, Adblock Plus, GreaseMonkey...) I've added that to http://kb.mozillazine.org/Java#If_Java_is_installed_and_enabled_but_does_not_work Alice Wyman
Disabling NoScript, ABP and Greasemonkey does not solve the Java problem. See this Bug 611777. The Java plugin Java Embedding Plugin 0.9.7.4 is not recognized by FF4b7; it doesn't appear in Tools -> Add-ons -> Plug-ins nor does it show up in about:plugins. If you check these in FF3.6.12 the plugin appears in both places and it works at http://javatester.org/index.htm.
. FF 84.0.1 - TB 78.6 - Mac OSX 10.13.6
http://javatester.org/version.html works for me: I see Java Version 1.6.0_22 from Apple Inc. in a pink rectangle. When I go to about:plugins and Tools -> Add-ons -> Plugins I see Java Plug-In 2 for NPAPI Browsers.
The Java Embedding Plugin was removed in Firefox 4 Beta because it is no longer needed. I added references on that to http://kb.mozillazine.org/Java#On_Mac_OS_X Last edited by Alice on November 26th, 2010, 3:04 pm, edited 2 times in total.

I see that too but doesn't work. Let me poke around for a while. FF 84.0.1 - TB 78.6 - Mac OSX 10.13.6
I meant Tools - Add-ons -> Plugins, of course.

Of course ![]() How lame am I. Turns out that Little Snitch was blocking a connection plugin-container via java.sun.plugin2.main.client.PluginMain When I fixed that and with NoScript, ABP and Greasemonkey disabled I saw the pink rectangle at http://javatester.org/index.htm ![]() ![]() . FF 84.0.1 - TB 78.6 - Mac OSX 10.13.6
Yeah, it can get complicated figuring out this stuff, especially with all the changes in Firefox 4 on Mac
![]() P.S. About your Little Snitch security software blocking the java plugin-container process, thanks for the info. I'll add a reference link to this thread in http://kb.mozillazine.org/Plugin-container_and_out-of-process_plugins#Plugin-container. Alice Wyman
