"Connecting..."/"Connection Reset"... and similar problems

Post by Zouk ! »

Hi all,

Just creating this topic to help to centralize problems related to this phenomena with latest builds.
Personally, I still have a lot of connection problems with all site, no rules, as described here. Several message (Connecting, connection timed out, site not found, DNS Error...) but same destination : no connection or connections stall randomly (in appearance).I can't find a way to reproduce it.
Hope someone will be able to spend some times to investigate this bug. If I can help, don't hesitate to ask. Thank you.

Actual bugs more or less related to this :
Bug 614950 - Connections stall occasionally after 592284 landed
Bug 614677 - Connection is reset message appears intermittently after landing of bug 592284

Best Regards,
Zouk !

I only have the "connection reset" problem with MozillaZine, although rather frequently.

I rarely have the problem but a place to start is here http://kb.mozillazine.org/Error_loading_any_website

the first steps to take
1. delete current cache
2. change about:config.... network.dns.disableIPv6 to true
2. change about:config.... network.dns.disablePrefetch to true
3. restart FF

Thanks for this. I will test it.
Meanwhile a tryserver-builds seems to help a lot and so far, I'm actually using it : Here the build / More information

When I loaded up the try server build earlier today, the issues I was having, especially with this site (connection reset) went away. Having now let the auto-update run, the problems are back.

I have experimented with setting network.dns.disableIPv6 and network.dns.disablePrefetch to true but doing so had little if any effect.

I'm getting similar problems as the OP. In my case closing a bunch of recently viewed/opened windows fixes the problem immediately.

Another 'try-build' - Not same bug, but the fix is going to happen in this bug:

It tried this try build but is not about the same problem, so it does not fix it :-/
