The animation is still jittery but it stays responsive. Tab detachment seems to be affected by animated gifs.

Tab animation is in 27 July build, there was a respin...Now we have it in Nightly current build as well.

The animation is a lot smoother for me using the UX Nightly rather than Nightly. Must have forgotten to merge something.

Sat in on a UX brownbag event at Mozilla today. There should be some fun new stuff landing in the coming weeks/months...

Getting rid of the Customize dialog (so you can drag/drop items around the browser without having the Customize dialog open).
Conditional forward button.
A couple new home/new tab mockups.
Reorganizing Firefox's menus.
New tabbar styles.

IMO firefox's menu's have been crap. i still use the old menu style

It was broadcast on Air Mozilla. Not sure if it got recorded at any point.
